In the humid heat of July the project partners from Germany and Pakistan met for the Kickoff conference in Pakistan. The National Textile University (NTU) in Faisalabad was an excellent host for the conference and organized visits to the textile industry. With the University of Agriculture Faisalabad we visited research fields and cooperating farmers.

Six InoCottonGROW delegates conducted a preparatory visit to cooperation partners at UAF, NTU, UU, EPD, PMIU, and GIZ Pakistan in April 2017. The aim of the trip was to initiate further cooperation and prepare for a larger kick-off conference in July.

All Project partners from Germany gathered on April 3, 2017 at the Research Institute for Water and Waste Management at RWTH Aachen University (FiW) . The project start was celebrated with a glass of cold Pakistani mango juice.

In March 2017, Charel Baumann, young engineer at FiW, had the opportunity to participate in a GIZ mission conducted by Dr. Harald Schönberger (University of Stuttgart) within the GIZ project “Water Efficiency in the Textile Industry (WETI)”. The purpose of Mr. Baumann’s participation was to present the InoCottonGROW project to WETI partner factories and prepare the ground for demonstrating an anaerobic pilot wastewater treatment plant later this year at Kohinoor Mills Limited.
